They assessed several options to improve the sustainability of rice production in a municipality located in the Delta of the Senegal river by using Life Cycle Assessment based on field data. In the interview, Neus Escobar summarizes the major implications of the study, emphasizing the role of mechanization and well-designed fertilizer application doses for improving rice production practices in West African countries, where farmers have limited access to modern technologies and agricultural input products.
